Today, believe it or not, is the 16th anniversary of Brian's first transplant. Sixteen years ago tonight he was resting in the ICU at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center getting used to immunosuppressants, making urine again (I know...maybe TMI, but you don't appreciate urine until it's not there!), and looking better than he had in a l-o-n-g time. That kidney was a wonderful gift from Brian's brother Mike. Although we can't thank him today, we trust that he knows how grateful we are for his selfless act. Today we pause to reflect on the years of health that gift allowed Brian to enjoy...and we look ahead with hope to the day when we will celebrate the gift of health again :)
